Export of Iranian beluga caviar

۱۳ بازديد
Beluga caviar is obtained from elephant fish, one of the sturgeon fish.
This fish is mainly found in the Caspian Sea, the largest lake in the world.
This lake borders Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Russia (Dagestan, Kalmukistan and Astrakhan).
This sturgeon fish is also found in the Black Sea basin and occasionally in the Atlantic Sea.
Beluga has Imperial, Royal, Black, Three Zero and Diamond varieties.
Imperial is divided into three categories: simple, top, and aristocratic or courtly.
The export grades of this type of caviar are also defined in four groups: Imperial, Royal, Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Beluga caviar is the most expensive and the highest quality type of caviar in the world.
Beluga caviar is now endangered.
The same issue has caused the ban on the production and export of caviar in the Caspian and Black Sea basins since 2005.
In 2006, the Convention on International Trade, Endangered Species (CITES), all trades in the traditional caviar production areas of the Caspian and Black Seas (Beluga, Ostra and Suruga), (Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Romania, Russia, Serbia and Montenegro, Turkmenistan and Ukraine).
Due to the failure of producing countries to implement international regulations and recommendations, the export of caviar from Iran was exempted from this ban.
Iran has a strict monitoring in its fisheries in terms of (CITES) for effective protection.
In January 2007, the ban was partially lifted.
Iran issued the possibility of selling 96 tons of caviar, 15% lower than the official level of 2005.
(CITES) maintained the 2007 quota for 2008.
Due to the few and ineffective measures to preserve and protect the decline of the sturgeon population, Iran has criticized many international authorities.
